November

This November was short but full of activity.  Students in 2nd and 3rd grade started their online portfolios with Artsonia.

3rd grade had been bouncing around between their ninjas and Chihuly's Macchias.  As our first clay project we talked more about glazing.  Although chihuly worked with glass we were able to get a glass look with our glaze.  Students used our glaze sample chart to select their glazes.  They were able to use two different glazes on the inside and outside or just one all over.  We discussed what made each brand's glazes different from one another.

2nd grade finished their landscapes and have started to talk about repetition.  We have used repetition to create our stacked cups and will be starting a snowflake piece that also will include repetition.  We are making the same things and repeating them, making each on a little bit different.

1st grade has just finished their shooting stars!  Watercolor paints, permanent markers, with lines and shapes and we made a fun piece.  Students also started to mount their own artwork and co pleating name tags so they are ready for display!

Kindergarten had a new experience this month.  We tried out centers!  Within our centers students mixed the primary colors together to see what secondary colors they made after we read Mouse Paint by Ellen Stoll Walsh. Since we mixed the paint with our fingers we worked in smaller groups with centers and rotated around until we all had a chance to paint! The students really enjoyed our color exploration this month.
